Step 1
Register with the Minnesota State High School League
All officials must be registered with the MSHSL to be eligible to officiate. Please be advised that the MSHSL registration is a detailed process that may take several days to finalize.
Registration Notes

- Instructional Video: A video guide is available to help walk you through the registration process.
- Registration Deadline: Registration for closes approximately one week prior to the season start date.
Please follow the instructions below based on your status as an official.
First-Time Registration
For brand-new officials
If you have never officiated an MSHSL sport, you must create a new account.
- Navigate to the MSHSL Arbiter Registration portal.
- Follow the on-screen steps to create a new account. If you already have an Arbiter account, simply log in.
- Once logged in, either with a new account or an existing one, select the Eligibility button from your dashboard, then click Registration and select the corresponding school year.
- Scroll toward the bottom of the page and select Wrestling.
- Proceed through the remaining steps to complete your registration as a wrestling official with the MSHSL.
Adding Wrestling
For existing MSHSL officials
If you are already registered with the MSHSL for other sports, you must add wrestling to your officiating profile.
- Log in to your MSHSL Arbiter account.
- Select the Eligibility button from your dashboard, then click Registration and select the corresponding school year.
- Scroll toward the bottom of the page and select Wrestling.
- Proceed through the remaining steps to complete your registration as a wrestling official with the MSHSL.
Annual Renewal
MSHSL registration must be renewed annually to remain eligible to officiate wrestling matches. Look for an email from the MSHSL with instructions for renewing your registration each year.

Step 2
Attend the SMWOA preseason meeting
The SMWOA preseason meeting for wrestling officials typically occurs in early November. At this meeting, you will be assigned a mentor and receive essential training on scheduling software, officiating fundamentals, and association procedures.

New officials will receive important information about ArbiterSports, association expectations, mechanics, communication, and next steps.
